Keeping on Gaming Board Rules
Keeping on Gaming Boards are a public forum, and by using them, we request that you abide by a few simple terms. By registering, and using Keeping on Gaming Boards, you automatically agree to follow this user agreement.
Rules
- Copyrighted Material
We don't allow copyrighted, or trademarked material, nor do we allow any material that the author hasn't given permission for direct use (general internet images are alright, as long as the author hasn't directly mentioned that it can only be used under permission). You will generally receive a warning for first offenses, and bans for anything further.
- Flaming, Bashing, and Trolling
Flaming, bashing, and trolling people is not only unacceptable, it's silly, and immature. Don't bother getting ticked off by other peoples' stupidity, just ignore them. If you have a problem with a particular user, contact them through Private Message, and deal with it that way. We don't want a bunch of fighting happening on the boards.
If we see an argument, we'll move the thread, and record it in your user notes. Further offenses may warrant a ban.
Trolling, is also not allowed, it's simple, if you don't like it here, don't come, and don't post. Nobody on the board wants to listen to your whining about how it isn't perfect.
- System Wars
System wars are also pointless, everybody has their own point of view, so some people may like Nintendo, but despise Microsoft, while others like Microsoft, yet despise Nintendo. It's pretty simple, respect other peoples' point of view, and you'll prevent both, getting a ban (and a bad record), and wasting your time on a pointless battle.
- Spoilers
So maybe you just beat a brand new game before anybody else, well, please don't ruin the ending for anyone else. If you want to post the spoilers, either make a new thread with a spoiler warning in the title, or black them out by using the [hl=][/hl] tag.
- Signature Images
Since we allow images in signatures, please keep them small in size. Try to make them fewer than 80 pixels in height, make sure they won't stretch the page, and keep them 56k friendly.
- Impersonating/Accessing Another Users Account
Accessing another users account is strictly prohibited, if you either gain their password, or hack into their account through the system, you'll go straight down the tube to nowheresville, in English, you'll receive an immediate, and permanent IP, and account ban. Also keep in mind, for security purposes, we must put a permanent ban on hacked accounts (unless secured), so to stay away from having enemies, stay away from hacking all together. If you make an account with a name similar to another users name solely for the reason to anger them, we'll (on the first offense) kindly ask you to make a new account, or give us a name you'd like to use, and we'll change it. On repeated offenses of impersonating other users, you will get banned.
- Rioting
Rioting is a silly, and pointless waste of time, and the moderators' time. If you register just to riot the boards, you'll receive a permanent IP, and system ban. If you participate in/start a riot out of pure boredom, then you'll get a ban, but not a permanent ban. Planning riots on our system, or affiliating us with riots on other systems can warrant a permanent ban, only depending on the requests of the administrators of other systems. If they have us handle you with our own decision, then we will figure out an appropriate ban time for the offense.
- Profanity
Here at Keeping on Gaming Boards, we allow profanity to an extent. Using it excessively, posting racial slurs, or sexuality slurs are prohibited, and will get you a ban. Using profanity in thread titles is also not allowed, mainly because of filters some users have on their computers, and using them in thread titles would prevent them from viewing the boards. We'd let it slide the odd time, and edit it out, but eventually, you could get a ban.
- Spam
Come on people! Spamming just to raise a number isn't only a waste of bandwidth, but a waste of time. Please make multi-word responses to threads to add something to the thread other than a banned user count. On occasion, one or two word answers are alright, but eventually it will warrant a ban.
- Pornography
Pornography is strictly not allowed, unless said otherwise. Keeping on Gaming Boards is a forum for all ages, and we'd like to keep it that way.
- Altering Board Code
Altering, or changing board code isn't allowed, as well as hacking, exploiting bugs, exploiting board code, and using scripts. Doing any of the previously mentioned with get you an immediate, permanent ban, and speaking about any types of hacking will get you a 2 - 4 week ban for security purposes.
- Off-Topic Posts
Posting Off-Topic posts may not get you a ban right away, but repeated offenses may. Saying "I caught all the Pokemanz!" on a South Park board is silly, and a moderator will move your thread to the appropriate board.
- Advertising
Advertising isn't allowed on our network, if you want to do some advertising of your site, contact an administrator, and ask them about advertising fees. Advertising in threads, or via Private Message is prohibited, and will get you a ban, especially if you registered only to advertise. If you feel it's necessary, then you may use one line in your signature, and that's us being generous. If you have more than one line, a staff member will edit it out, and record it. But if you continue editing it back in, then you'll get banned.
- Bumping Outdated Threads
Bumping outdated threads that provide virtually nothing to the board will get you a warning, and the thread will be locked. If it is some sort of contest though, then we'll likely let it fly.
- Using Staff Mark-up
Don't use staff only mark-up, it's for the staff to use, and discuss private matters amongst themselves, as well as keeping them from having to switch back and forth between boards. On another note, don't use any sort of mark-up in thread titles, it's only to be used for important board announcements, and thus, only to be used by staff members.
- Editing Over Staff Posts
If a staff edits a post of yours, you don't like it, and you still have some of your editing time for that board, don't edit over anything they edited, or any of the original post, doing so will get a warning, and generally a ban afterwards.
- Problems With Users/Staff Members
If you have a problem with a user or a staff member, contact an Administrator to talk about it, you can have a group chat over the situation, and resolve it.
- Questionable Content
We can't have rules to cover everything, so this is the rule to, well, cover everything. If a staff member sees that you are doing something that isn't in the rules, but seems wrong, he/she'll use their own judgment, and give you a punishment for it. If you get banned, and you feel it wasn't legitimate, then contact an Administrator with your inquiry. Also, keep in mind that illegal activities are in fact, illegal, and depending on the offense, we may, or may not contact your local authorities.
Keeping on Gaming has the right to alter, or edit this user agreement without informing registered members. It is your responsibility to follow the rules on the user agreement, and to do so, you may want to check up on this user agreement often. |
